Travelers Bob and Patti Rocks pause at a scenic stop driving around the Ring of Kerry.
We worked with Katie and her team to plan our “long-awaited” trip to Ireland. The long-awaited part because we had to postpone our 30th anniversary trip due to an unexpected health scare. So—before I even get to the trip, let me first say how great Katie and her colleagues were to work with during this difficult time. But…a year later we were off to enjoy an incredible 12-day trip.
We explored Galway City, the Burren, Killarney, and of course the Cliffs of Moher, the Ring of Kerry, and Dublin. Each stop cemented our understanding of why people fall in love with the Emerald Isle. What made the trip extra special for us however, was our driver Martin. We had initially thought driving would add to the fun, but some very wise counsel from Katie’s team led us to make a different decision… our best one.
Not only did Martin take the stress of driving away, but he added so much texture to our visit. He shared stories and advice like we had known him forever. It also seemed to take him about a day to get to know us and suggest some different and additional stops along the way that made a great trip an absolutely amazing trip! We only ran into one hiccup on our trip—the hotel we chose in Dublin was a little disappointing, and since we wanted to end our trip on a high note, we called our planners at about 5:59 pm on a Friday night. By the next morning we had a new hotel (The Shelbourne, which was incredible). I highly recommend working with these planners and exploring Ireland!
When we decided to return to Ireland, the first call was to Ty and Katie’s team (we had utilized them previously on our first trip to Ireland). It is as if they can take just the basics, and make magic happen!
This trip was a little more complicated than before, as we were (1) traveling with friends, (2) two of the group wanted to play golf on some of the best courses, (3) we wanted a few days to visit friends that have moved to Ireland, and (4) we were attending an NFL game in London. As before, their itinerary was perfect for us, and everything was executed flawlessly. Every hotel —Ashford Castle, Lough Eske Castle, and Ballyfin Hotel (which felt like we were in Downton Abbey!)—and experience was perfect, and a REAL plus was Katie arranging for us to have Donal, the same driver we had on our previous trip.
We still have other areas of Ireland to explore, and will definitely be back in touch for the planning. Thanks for making this trip as special as the first.

Travelers Adam and Mary Amsterdam sampled their way through the Borough Market.
Destination: London, England
Dates: 29 November 2025-3 December 2025
Our trusted UK travel expert Katie planned our wonderful London trip. The Christmas lights all over London give the city a magical feel at night. Katie presented us with a number of enticing hotel choices, from which we chose The BoTree Hotel located in Marylebone. It is a perfect location. Chelsea, Soho, and Mayfair are within walking distance from the hotel and the Bond Street Underground station is just across the street. If we didn’t walk somewhere we took the Underground—much quicker and less expensive than a taxi or Uber. The hotel itself is fairly new and very modern. We stayed in a Welbeck Suite, which was perfect.
Katie planned great experiences for us. We toured the Borough Market with our charming guide Sam, where we sampled the most delicious sausage rolls, fish & chips, donuts, and ale. Sam wove in interesting history of the market during our tastings.
The next day we were met in the hotel lobby by our London Blue Badge guide Angus for a morning at the Tate Modern and the British Museum. Blue Badge guides have passed the UK’s most rigorous guiding qualifications awarded by the Institute of Tourist Guiding, and Angus certainly demonstrated his qualifications! We usually don’t have patience for more than an hour or two in museums but Angus made the time fly.
On our last full day, our guide Karen led us on a tour of The History of London in Four Drinks. From coffee to tea to beer to gin, Karen led us to historic locations to learn about and sample these four drinks that have played major roles in the shaping of London history and culture. A unique and fun experience.
Great restaurants, great shopping, great architecture, and great history will have us returning to London soon and we look forward to working with Katie again to plan it.
We had a wonderful trip to Ireland. With careful planning we were able to cover a lot of ground, see all three west coast peninsulas, visit Tom’s grandfather’s hometown, visit local artisans,
and enjoy a falconry adventure. Working with Kate was a pleasure. The hotel accommodations were very special. One of the best experiences was having the same driver throughout our trip. We had many informative hours of discussions about politics, economics, education, healthcare and religion. It truly was a very special 80th birthday celebration for Tom.
