Traveler Wendy Tucker and her husband Marco enjoy a gourmet lunch on Kangaroo Island.
Another perfect trip planned by a Wendy Perrin WOW List travel expert! Before we even left on our 2-week trip to Australia, I knew it would be wonderful due to my pre-trip interactions with Kylie. Kylie is organized, responsive, intuitive and truly listened to who we are and what we were looking for.
Our resulting trip was fabulous—luxurious, intimate accommodations, friendly, knowledgeable local guides, wonderful fresh food and experiences off the beaten path learning about each locale. We began with a very short stay in Sydney with an unforgettable view of the iconic Sydney Opera House at the Park Hyatt. Next we went to Port Lincoln, which I had never heard of but am so glad we put our trust in Kylie. Port Lincoln, the seafood capital of Australia, provides incredible empty rugged coastline, wonderful up close wildlife encounters, and a four-wheel-drive adventure in the sand dunes. We loved staying in a house right on the water with a fantastic private chef creating our dinners each night. Shout out to our friendly and informative guide Doug.
We next flew by private plane to Kangaroo Island and stayed at the magnificent Southern Ocean Lodge. Our guide Craig was stellar—he seemed like he knew everyone on the island. And the next day when my husband Marco required a hospital visit due to a blood clot, Craig and his wife showed up to check in on us. Craig then followed up over the next few days to see how Marco was doing. True kindness that meant so much to us.
Our next stop was in the hills of Adelaide where we stayed at Sequoia Lodge. We loved our day in the Barossa Valley. The wineries we visited were truly special. We very much appreciated that our guide Andrew was able to pivot when we did not want to visit a third winery. We loved our coffee stop and the drive back through small towns.
Our final stop was at Silky Oaks Lodge in the Daintree Rainforest. We loved this lodge—from our room we heard the constant sound of the river and the food and staff are exceptional. Our guides Frank and Cathy were fantastic—so much local knowledge and connections. A highlight of the trip was our walk in Mossman Gorge with Skip, our indigenous guide. The next day we were scheduled for a half day trip to the Great Barrier Reef, but Cathy called us to recommend we not go due to choppy water. Instead, she put together an incredible visit to the Botanical Ark, a very private botanical garden created and maintained by the Carles. They have spent 40 years creating this paradise with plants from all over the world.
What makes a truly wonderful travel expert is when things don’t go to plan. Our trip was exceptional despite the hiccups of Marco’s blood clot and the cancelled reef visit. The passion and caring of Kylie and her team in creating a perfect experience for us despite these challenges really showed us how wonderful they are. We are definitely planning on returning to Australia and Kylie’s perfect travel experience!
Our two-week journey through Australia, planned meticulously by Kylie, was an unforgettable celebration for my friend’s 50th birthday. After two years of anticipation, Kylie’s expertise and attention to detail made every step seamless—from our initial Zoom meeting to countless emails refining our itinerary. Her thoughtful check-ins, including a welcome call upon arrival and follow-ups throughout the trip, ensured everything ran smoothly.
Kylie listened closely to our travel wishes: immersive wildlife encounters, luxurious accommodations, and authentic Australian experiences. Our adventure began in Melbourne for Boxing Day, continued to Tasmania for New Year’s festivities, ventured north to the Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef, and concluded in vibrant Sydney.
What Made This Trip Exceptional:
-Luxury Lodging: Each hotel and resort was chosen for its prime location, tranquility, and outstanding staff. Silky Oaks Lodge in the Daintree Rainforest stood out for its world-class facilities and gourmet dining—we could have happily extended our stay.
-Wildlife Encounters: From wombats and Tasmanian devils on Maria Island to spotting a cassowary in the rainforest and green turtles on the reef, every day brought new wonders.
-Expert Guides: Our local guides—Ingrid, Sonia, Oscar, and Andy—shared their deep knowledge and led us off the beaten path for truly memorable experiences.
-Unique Experiences: Highlights included a street art masterclass in Melbourne, visiting Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, hiking the Blue Mountains, watching New Year’s fireworks from our Hobart hotel, and attending a show at the Sydney Opera House.
We are deeply grateful to Kylie, the team, and our guides for crafting one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had.

My partner and I just got back from nearly 3 weeks in Australia in November. Kylie put this amazing trip together for us. This trip exceeded every expectation I had for our journey to Australia. From a private tour of the Sydney Opera House and climbing the Sydney Harbor Bridge at dusk (with its amazing views), to guided hikes in Tasmania, watching Tassie devils interact at a Tasmanian sanctuary, spear fishing in the ocean with our Aboriginal guide in Queensland, and spotting koalas during our Great Ocean Road experience in Melbourne, our trip was filed with wonderful firsts.
Australia is filled with flora and fauna found nowhere else on earth. Every activity was carefully planned and thought out in such a way that we got the most out of our time and effort. This trip required a LOT of coordination with multiple internal flights, drivers, guides, and numerous activities. Kylie masterfully handled all of this with aplomb. When weather stymied our helicopter journey to Orpheus Island in the Great Barrier Reef, Kylie remotely arranged for us to catch a Qantas flight to Townsville so that we could catch the helicopter from there. Special shout out to our amazing guides Raf and Pat in Melbourne who seemed more like friends than tour guides.
All in all it was an amazing trip seeing some of the most wondrous sights of Australia. We want to go back and see more!

Traveler Diane Thormodsgard and family cheer at a Melbourne footy game.
We just returned from a 2 1/2 week trip in August, 2025, to Australia with our 12-year-old twin granddaughters and our daughter. We told our grandchildren many years ago they could pick any place in the world for a trip. Australia was their choice even though it was a long way to travel from NY. (We took our grandsons to Dubai 2 years ago.) We started planning the trip in February with Kylie. She designed an absolutely perfect agenda that gave the girls an unforgettable experience with many lifelong memories. Kylie was extremely responsive and had every detail worked out. The guides, drivers and activities she selected were top notch.
Our trip started in Melbourne, where we attended our first Aussie footy game. It was a blast! Thankfully our host, Kieran, was there to escort us and explain the game. The next day Kieran gave us a tour of Melbourne. It included our WOW Moment with Mysterious Al at his art studio, where we all made our own creations. What a nice surprise for everyone!
Traveling to northern Australia included a stay at Silky Oaks Lodge, where we had stayed with our children 28 years ago during our first trip to Australia. We learned a lot during our Daintree/Mossman Gorge Indigenous Rainforest Walk with Skip. Our private River Drift experience on rubber rafts with Will was thoroughly enjoyed, as well as relaxing at the Lodge with the beautiful surroundings.
Next we headed to Orpheus Island Resort by helicopter. It is the most beautiful boutique all-inclusive beachfront resort on the Great Barrier Reef. With under 25 guests, the service was unbelievable, including 3 daily gourmet meals and an extremely personable staff. We used the spa, pool, hiking trails, motorized dinghies, kayaks, fishing and snorkeling gear. An evening sunset cruise was gorgeous. The snorkeling trip in the Great Barrier Reef was really special. It’s hard to explain how relaxing and spectacular our stay was at the Resort.
Our last stop was Sydney. Although we had rainy weather the entire time we were there, our full-day harbor (with grilled gourmet lunch) and city tour was a great way to see Sydney. We toured the Sydney Opera House and visited the Taronga Zoo. Our courageous daughter and granddaughters completed the Sydney Bridge Climb in the cold weather and rain, which was another unique experience for them.
The trip was extremely well planned and orchestrated by Kylie for 3 generations traveling together. We experienced a “trip of our lifetime” for all of us, which created lifelong memories. I highly recommend Kylie and her team for your travels in Australia. Thank you for giving us this incredible time together.
